Proxify+: a tool to automatically create simplified "proxy" meshes for your characters. This can increase the FPS during viewport playback. I've been focusing on doing more animation lately and a slow viewport really kills the animation workflow.
Simplify+: this is another addon aimed at improving viewport performance, but it does it by tweaking scene settings, batch disabling modifiers in the viewport, etc. It's like Blender's default Simplify feature, but it has many more options.
3D Onion Skinning: an animation tool that displays "ghost models" of the previous and next frames of your animation. Many animators love it.

Keep in mind that I just bought these tools, so this is not yet a strong "recommendation" although they do look solid and the developer seems dedicated.

As I said, I'm focusing more on animation, so something else that's still on sale is Pierrick's animation course "Alive".
